What are the fire detection loops made out of?
Stainless steel capillaries tube containing helium and hydrogen
The left essential bus powers which loops for the engine fire protection system?
The left essential bus powers Loop A for engine number one and Loop B for engine number two
Which loops of the fire protection system does the right essential bus power?
The right essential bus powers loop A for engine number two and loop B for engine number one
How does each responder unit detect engine fire conditions in the engine nacelle?
By sensing the gas pressure in its loop.
If one of the fire sensing loops sends a fire warning to the cockpit what should you see?
Both red engine fire press to reset switch lights will flash, the pull fuel off handle of the affected engine will illuminate, the check fire detection warning light, on the caution/warning panel will flash, the master warning press to reset switch light will flash and the fire bell will sound.
How is the fire bell cancelled?
By pressing either of the engine fire press to reset switch lights
What’s the fire extinguisher chemical used In the fire detection loops?
Halon 1301
Where are the fire extinguisher bottles located?
Located in the left wing root fearing
Each extinguisher bottle has two discharge valves how are they actuated?
Each are actuated by electronically detonated explosive cartridges called, squibs
If the pull fuel off handles are pushed back in what occurs?
Fuel and hydraulics are restored and the bottles are disarmed.
When the fire is extinguished what happens to the pull Fuel off handle and all fire warnings?
The pull fuel off handle will extinguish and all fire warnings will go out.
What powers the fire extinguisher discharge circuits?
The battery bus to ensure fire extinguisher operation in the event of an electrical power failure
What is the discharge indication when the extinguishant is discharged into the nacelle ?
The yellow disc discharge indicator
What does the red disc indicate?
The red disc is the thermal discharge indicator and is ejected by extinguishant escaping to the atmosphere due to thermal expansion.
What kind of Fire protection in the baggage compartment?
To smoke detectors provide visual warning in the flight compartment of an incipient or active fire in the baggage area
