Reporting information that will be used by an LEA for a drug trafficking investigation requires the operator to
quickly observe a person or vehicle and the activity and be able to report what they have observed. The operator must use all of their senses.
Operators should only report on
what they can observe and not what they think they are seeing.
GRD uses the following format
- Subject Designation: The subject who has been given a designation by the LEA because of his or her importance as a criminal in the case. Designation remains the same
- Keep it basic
- Written requires details
Subject description GRAB-C
G-Gender M or F
R-Race white, black, Hispanic etc.
A-Age 5yr increments 20-25
B-Build heavy, medium, thin, height (5”0-5”6)
C- Clothing Top->Bottom
Hat, hair, facial hair, shirt, pants, shoes
Miscellaneous Information
Tattoos, jewelry, etc.
Vehicle Descriptions (Most pertinent to least pertinent)
-Vehicle Designation: The vehicle has been given a designation by the LEA of his or her importance to the case
- State the state in which the license plate was issued
- License Plate the LP number (DO NOT GIVE OUT WRONG LP, GIVE WHAT YOU SEE)
- Color As accurately as possible, if unknown, then use light, dark etc.
- Style 2 door sedan, 5 door sedan, type (SUV), etc.
- Year estimated age of the vehicle and report
- Make name of the manufacturer
- Model ram, challenger, malibu etc.
- Miscellaneous Information
Noisy, stickers, unusual equipment, company names on vehicles, etc.
Activity Description
There is no specific GRD format for describing activity. Include “who, what, when where, and how?” (5 primaries)
