GRD OIC
serves as the primary advisor to the CDC on all aspects of JCDTF GR and Training support Operations.
GRD NCOIC
reports directly to the CDC and serves as the principle enlisted advisor to the GR OIC pertaining to GR operations, team dynamics, reconnaissance challengers, operator, capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
Team leader
reports directly to the GR NCOIC. He is the teams Ops SGT and is responsible for everything the team accomplishes or fails to accomplish
Assistant Team Leader
GR ATL reports directly to the GR TL. He is the teams Jr. Operations SGT and is capable of performing the duties of MC/TL in his absence. He is responsible for preparation, execution, administration, logistical, and maintenance requirements of the team and it’s mission.
Tactical Specialist
is the tactical subject matter expert. His is the primary weapons and tactics instructor for both team and LEA training events. He writes the execution para of the OPORD
Logistics Specialist
reviews and consolidates all supply/equipment requirements from his team. Coordinates S4/S6 for all supply draw/turn-in, vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
Communications Specialist
develops PACE plan and ensures that it remains viable throughout the operations. Conducts R&D in the areas of communications and surveillance technology to ensure that the detachment remains on the cutting edge of surveillance technology.
Medical Specialist
is the SME in the area of medical treatment and basic trauma care.
Operations Sergeant
is responsible for coordinating and facilitating GR operations. Primarily responsible for ensuring that the planning, execution, and recovery process are all followed. Maintains and reviews all paperwork and mission folders.
Operator Responsibilities
- Maintaining situational awareness at all times
- Being prepared to deploy at any time with food, money, and supplies for five days without resupply
- Following instructions and using initiative, based on the commander’s intent, in the absence of instructions
- Operating for long periods without supervision
- Providing well thought-out input to leaders at the appropriate time, if necessary
- Supporting the chain of command
- Being capable of assuming leadership responsibilities at any time
- Rapport building and maintenance
- Maintenance of OPSEC
- Professional behavior, both on and off duty, that would bring credit to GRD
- Maintenance of physical fitness
- Practice of effective stress management
- Development and training of other operators using lessons learned
- On the spot corrections
- Knowing what to do and when to do it; whether you feel like it or not
- Safety
Leadership Responsibilities
- Rapport Building, Site selection, target folder development and detailed mission planning
- Equipment request and inspections
- Coordination’s
- Briefings, rehearsals and brief backs
- Navigation and OP selection
- Priority of work, shift schedules and sleep schedules
- Improvement of position, daily maintenance, and equipment accountability
- Supply status and supply request
- Health and morale status of team members
- Requesting/considering input from other operators during mission planning and conduct whenever feasible
- Tactical Decisions
- Knowing what to do and when to do it; whether you feel like it or not
