Less digestible energy, but more protein, fiber and phosphorus than whole grains

Routinely provided to horse
Contains 93-98% sodium chloride
Contains Traces of manganese, iron, cobalt, copper, iodine, and zinc
Calcium and Phosphorus
Most commons sources:
- Steamed bone meal - 24% cal, 12% phos
- Dicalcium phosphate - .23% cal, 17% phos
Vitamins
Not necessary if horse is feed good quality hay or pasture
Any vitamin or mineral supplement added depends on the nutrient makeup of the diet
