Somerset realises he is going to be overthrown and tries to remove his opponents from the Privy Council
15th Sept
the Earl of Warwick returns to London (with soldiers) after defeating Kett’s Rebellion. Somerset orders all armed men to leave London. The armed men don’t leave.
September 30th
Somerset (with Edward) flee to Hampton Court
October 5th-
–Somerset and Edward go to Windsor Castle
October 6th
Somerset is accused of kidnapping Edward.
October 7th-
Edward accuses Somerset of kidnapping him. Somerset surrenders
October 10th –
Somerset imprisoned
October 14th-
Northumberland is lord president
Dec 1549
Somerset released. Somerset’s son marries Northumberland’s daughter.
February 1550
– Somerset re-arrested on trumped up charges of treason and felony (theft)
October 1551
Somerset executed. He is found innocent of treason and executed on corruption charges.
