Connective Tissue Flashcards
Hematopoietic tissue
Blood acting as tissue because it cycles through the body, originate in the bone marrow
Cellular components of connective tissue
1) fibroblasts
2) adipose cells
3) macrophages
4) mast cells
5) leukocytes
6) plasma cells
Unilocular Adipocyte
Cells with one lipid droplet in the cell that fills there whole cytoplasm
Multilocular Adipocyte
Contains many lipid droplets and mitochondria
Brown fat
Multiple lipid droplets and mitochondria
Plasma cells
They have abundant RER to make immunoglobulins. Contains an eccentric nucleus and cartwheel arrangement of heterochromatin.
Mast cells
Inflammatory response
Integrins
Transmembrane proteins that hold the cell to extracellular components of the membrane. They replace cadherins in hemidesmosomes
Reticular fibers
Type III collagen, enriched in lymphoid organs and tissue
Hydrostatic pressure
Pressure of blood coming out of heart
Plasma colloidal
Osmotic pressure outside of the cells in the connective tissue space
Mesenchyme
Consists of undifferentiated cells with a minimal amount of ECM. It acts as progenitors of all CT cells
Functions of Connective Tissue
Support, transport of nutrients, defense, wound healing, and storage
Fibrous connective tissue
Collagen fibers, reticular fibers, and elastic fibers
Amorphos connective tissue
Glycosaminoglycans (highest sugar content), proteoglycans and glycoproteins (lowest sugar content).
