What is continuous training?
Steady training working the entire body for a long period of time, it improves cardiovascular fitness and other CoFs.
What is Fartlek training?
A method of training for runners where the terrain and speed are constantly changing, it improves cardiovascular fitness and other CoFs.
What is Circuit training?
A series of exercises, so as to avoid exercising the same muscle groups consecutively, completed for a certain amount of time/reps, after one another, it improves muscular endurance as well as other CoFs.
What is Interval training?
Physical training involving alternating stages of high and low-intensity activity. The high-intensity part is a high-quality workout always done at a fast pace. It improves speed and other CoFs.
What is Plyometric training?
Exercises where muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time allowing for improved explosive movements, it improves power and other CoFs.
What is Weight training?
Shifting weight to increase the strength of the muscle using a programme of exercises, it improved muscular strength and other CoFs.
What are the 3 main factors of choosing the right method of training?
- The requirements of the particular sport
- The facilities in the local area
- The individual’s current level of fitness
