What is health?
Not just as simple as being well. Its a state of complete emotional/psychological, physical and social well-being.
What is fitness?
The ability to meet the demands of an environment. For a sportsman, it means being in the right emotional/psychological and physical shape to be able to do what your sport requires of you.
What is exercise?
Any activity that needs physical effort. Often people think of exercise as activities you do to stay fit, however, activities such as walking or cycling to school are still forms of exercise as they require physical effort.
What is performance?
The action or process of doing something, but the term is also used to describe how you do something or how well you do it.
Give an example of how fitness contributes to performance?
Runners who are fit can run further and faster. Gymnasts who are fit can perform more advanced gymnastics positions.
What does exercise do to health and performance?
It improves your health as it builds up fitness levels, which enables you to perform better. It also helps you to keep healthy by preventing illness.
Why is it possible to be fit but not healthy? Give an example.
Many sports people suffer injuries and illness including emotional/psychological health issues.Cricketer Jonathan Trott was physically fit to play but decided to quit the 2013 Ashes series because of problems with anxiety.
Give 3 physical, social and emotional/psychological benefits of exercise each.
