[CO] - Control Oil Flashcards
[CO]
What is the purpose of the [CO] system?
4
Provides pressurized hydraulic fluid for:
GS Control Valves,
GS Stop Valves,
GS CIVs (Combine Intermediate Valves),
and Electrohydraulic Control System
[CO]
How much does one 55 gal barrel move level in the HF Reservoir?
Hydraulic Fluid
4”
[CO]
What pressure does the stndby HF pump start?
What pressure does the turbine trip?
1300 psig
1100 psig
[CO]
When is the Transfer Filtering Pump used?
-when the Hydraulic Pumps are shut down
-When reservoir is being filled or drained
-or for bypass filtering of reservoir fluid
[CO]
What provides cooling for the Control Oil Hydraulic coolers?
[TC] Turbine Cooling Water
[CO]
What powers the HF pumps?
[NG]
What happens if power is lost to the
[CO] Hydraulic Pumps?
Turbine trip on low oil pressure
[CO]
What in [CO] is powered from NH?
[CO] filter pump:
-motor, fans and heaters
hydraulic fluid pump:
-motor space heaers
[CO]
What does [NN] do for the [CO]?
power to EHC control cabinet
(On the skid
[CO]
How is the CO Hydraulic Oil Cooler affected by a loss of IA? Operator actions?
TC control valves will fail open to the Hydraulic Oil Coolers
Operator will have to throttle open the bypass around the temperature control valve and then isolate the control valve.
Also goes to the CO Reservoir dryer/conditioner
[CO]
What maintains the temperature of the [CO] Reservoir and how is it controlled?
-2 auto heater/fan units,
-temperature controller in the power unit to maintain fluid at >85F
[CO]
What do the reservoir temperature controllers control?
position of the Cooling Water Inlet Valves on the HF Coolers
maintining HF at 115F
Hydraulic Fluid
[CO]
What happens when the Reservoir Heater/Fan control switch is taken to START? AUTO?
Start-Fans start only
Auto - If temp of hydraulic fluid is <85F, fans will start and the heaters will energize
Fans and heaters will continue to operate until HF reaches 85F, then heaters stop and the fans continue for 10 minutes (cooling the heaters)
[CO]
What is the capacity of the CO Main Hydraulic Pumps? Power source? How do the pumps respond to system demand changes?
100% capacity each
NG
The pump will vary its stroke to meet the flow demand and maintain constant pressure
The pump will stroke to zero delivery when dead headed
What is the purpose of the CO auxiliary pump mounted into the main pump housing? What are the three setpoints on each inlet strainer?
Takes suction on the control oil reservoir and supplies cooling and lubrication to the main pump
filter is clean, needs cleaning, bypassing
What is the normal system pressure maintained at by the CO main hydraulic pump? What would cause the standby CO Main Hydraulic pump to auto start?
1600 psig
If system pressure falls to 1300 psi
Where are the CO Main Hydraulic pumps normally operated from and where are they located?
Control room
100’ Turbine Building
How much nitrogen is charged into the CO Accumulators? Where are the accumulators located?
1000 psig
inside the control oil skid
