Chapter 1.9 Flashcards
How does the distribution of powers among the three federal branches and between national and state governments impact policymaking?
Clean Air Act
States had to create better air quality and have less pollutants in the air.
Endangered Species Act
It gave power to the National Fish and Wildlife Service to protect endangered species.
Kyoto Protocol
A multi-country agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, the Senate didn’t get enough votes so the US didn’t sign.
Paris Agreement
Climate agreement. Obama agreed to it without the Senate, and Trump left it without the Senate. Some say it was never official without the Senate. However, some states followed the Paris Agreement anyways.
Controlled Substances Act
An attempt to control drugs. Lots of drugs (including marijuana) were put into a category of potential harm. Only 12% of polled people liked it.
