Dangerous
Threatening to the persons well being or to the safety of others
Dissociative disorders
Disorders in which conscious awareness becomes separated from previous memories, thoughts and feelings
Dissociative identity disorders
Rare dissociative disorder in which a person exhibits 2 or more distinct and alternating personalities
Diathesis stress model
Looking at vulnerable/predisposition of mental disorders

Anxiety disorders
Psychological disorder characterized by distressing, persistent anxiety or maladaptive behaviors that reduce anxiety
Generalized anxiety disorder
Anxiety disorder in which a person is continually tense, apprehensive and in a state of autonomic nervous system arousal
Panic disorder
Anxiety disorder marked by unpredictable minute long episodes of intense dread in which someone experiences terror and accompany chest pain, choking and frightening sensations
Phobic disorder
Anxiety disorder marked by a persistent, irrational fear and avoidance of specific objects or situations
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Anxiety disorder characterized by unwanted repetitive thoughts (obsessions) and or actions
Mood disorders
Psychological disorder characterized by emotional extremes
Major depressive disorders
Symptoms last more than 2 weeks of Significantly depressed moods , drug use
Labeling effects
When labels can stigmatize a person by bias ing others interpretations and perceptions of past and present behaviors and by affecting he way people react to the labeled person
Agoraphobia
fear of situations in which escape might be difficult or help unavailable when panic strikes
Specific phobia
Fear of a specific object
Social phobia
Intense fear of being scrutinized by others. Avoid speaking up, eating out, parties
Post traumatic stress disorder
Anxiety disorder characterized by haunting ,e,ories, nightmares, social withdrawal that lingers for 4 weeks or more after a traumatic experience
Dissociative amnesia
Inability to recall important personal events and information (repression)
Dissociative fugue
Caused by psychological stressed, escape this state by traveling
Mania
Mood disorder marked by a hyperactive, wildly optimistic state
Dysthymic disorder
Down in dumps moods that fills most of the day nearly every day for 2 years but can still function on a daily basis
Bipolar disorder
mood disorder in which a person alternates between the hopelessness and lathargy of depression and over excited
Schizophrenia
Group of severe disorders characterized by disorganized and delusional thinking, disturbed perceptions and inappropriate emotions and auditory hallucinations
Delusions
False beliefs

Fantasy, usually auditory and often take the form of voices
Catatonic
Motionless and statue like positions
