Q

Why cell signaling is important?

A
  • Control cell metabolism
  • Cell division, cell growth, cell differentiation
  • Cells respond to SPECIFIC signals

Q

Types of signaling molecules

A

Lipophilic- steroid hormones, thyroid hormones, vitamin D

  1. Hydrophilic- Insulin, glucagon, growth receptors, adrenaline, noradrenaline
  2. Local mediators - numerous growth factors- CO. NO. histamines
