Analyse physical+chemical characteristics of
particles in fluid as it passes through at least one laser.

1 Cell components are fluorescently
labelled
2 excited by laser to emit light at varying wavelengths.

Fluorescence can be
measured to determine various properties of single particles, which are usually cells.
Allows us to see how many cells in each phase of cell cycle.
