PRE-ERUPTIVE PHASE
pathognomomic sign of measles
Koplik’s spots
fine red spots with bluish white spot at the center found in the inner cheek just opposite the molars

- Maculopapular rashes
- reddish and blotchy
- “morbiliform rash”
- first appear on the hairline
or behind the ears - cephalocaudal distribution
- Exanthem sign
ERUPTIVE PHASE
- “branny desquamation”
- A severe form known as “black measles”
- hemorrhagic rashes
- epistaxis
- melena
- marked toxicity may occur.
POST-ERUPTIVE PHASE
A contagious viral infection best known by it’s distinctive red rash.
