Q

Function of The Testes in the Endocrine system

give 2 examples of how the hormone works

A

To excrete Testosterone.
Testosterone develops a boys body through puberty to prepare it for adulthood. For example, it deepens the voice and promotes an increase in muscle mass.

Q

Function of The Adrenal Medulla gland in the Endocrine system
give 2 examples of how the hormone works

A

The Adrenal Medulla secretes Adrenaline into the bloodstream. This prepares the body for a fight or flight response by activating the sympathetic branch of the nervous system.

2 examples of this are dilation of pupils and an increase in heart rate

Q

Explain the Process of Synaptic Transmission

A

1) Action potential Arrives at Pre-synaptic cell
2) Pre-synaptic neuron has vesicles containing neurotransmitters
3) action potential stimulates release into synaptic cleft
4) Neurotransmitters diffuse across gap to bind with postsynaptic receptor sites
5) This converts chemical message back into Electrical impulse
6) Effects can be excitatory (increase positive charge in post-synaptic cell, more likely to fire) or inhibitory (increase in negative charge in post-synaptic cell, less likely to fire)

Q

What is the function of the endocrine system?

A

Works alongside nervous system. Secretes hormones which produce different effects (behaviours)

17
Q

What is the synapse

A

Site of transmission of electrical impulses between two nerve cells.
