Class I Supply
Subsistence: basic requirements to sustain life and health on a temporary basis
Supply
All materials and items used in the equipment, support and maintenance of military forces
Class II Supply
Clothing and individual equipment: Uniforms, combat equipment, tentage, tool sets, admin/cleaning equipment and supplies
Class III
Petroleum, Oils, and lubricants: preservatives, liquid and compressed gases, antifreeze
Class IV
Construction material: construction items, installed equipment, wood, wire, sandbags
Class V Supply
Ammunition including fuzes, detonators, pyrotechnics
Class VI Supply
Personal Demand Items: nonmilitary health, comfort, recreational items
Class VII Supply
Major End Items: tanks, vehicles, mobile machine shops, etc
Class VIII Supply
Medical/Dental Supplies
Class IX Supply
Repair Parts
Class X Supply
Non military programs: support non military, civic action programs such as agricultural and economic development
Sub Functions of Supply
Determination of Requirements Procurement Storage Distribution Salvage Disposal
Nonexpandable
Continue to be accounted for when issues to final user
Expendable
No longer accounted for when issues to the final user
Nonconsumable
Remains intact after its intended use
Consumable
Normally expended or used up beyond recovery (Except explosive ordnance and major items)
Principal
Requires centralized individual item management throughout the supply system
For combat or training
High monetary value
Difficult to procure/produce
Secondary
Items other than principal, may be nonexpendable or expendable
Type 1 Equipment
Type 1 T/A’s will be on hand, on order or identified as unfunded deficiency
Type 2
Reflected on the units T/E by allowance quantity
Type 3
Require special measures of control since they are used for particular conditions or situations (cold/desert items)

Consists of three (3) items
1. Commodity designator 2. Item number 3. Class of supply
ID the structure of a National Stock Number (NSN)
4-2-3-4 digits
4: digit federal supply code 9: digit national item id number
Store Account Code (SAC) 1
Minor end items, repair parts, individual clothing
SAC 2
Appropriation stores account secondary items
SAC 3
PEI’s of major importance and major components which require detailed analysis and examination at level established for control for control or at military service level
