Software
Includes the operating system and the programs running on the computer
Hardware
Physical equipment such as the case, storage drives, keyboards, monitors, cables, speakers, and printers.
Operating System (OS)
Software program that manages the basic operations of a computer
Network Operating System (NOS)
Used on servers to manage network resources as well as network level programs. Used to run file servers, email servers, and control access to shared files, printers, and other network devices
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Method of controlling software using onscreen icons, menus, dialog boxes, and objects that can be moved or resized, usually with a pointing device such as a mouse
Command Line Interface (CLI)
Text based CLI is a mechanism for interacting with a computer OS or software by typing commands to perform specific tasks
Vulnerability Testing
Consists of the tools and techniques used to check how vulnerable your network is to being compromised
Patch
Small addition to the original software code, written to bypass or correct a problem
