Allergy Flashcards
Immunomodulators
Give small doses of allergen to increase T reg levels
Not for food allergies or rashes
Omalizumab
Type 1= Anaphylactic
Ag initiates IgE response
Sensitisation= innate+ IgM response
Th2 cells release IL-4 which stimulates B cells to make IgE+ sensitise mast cells
Allergen binds to IgE releasing histamine
Leukotrienes+ prostaglandins stimulate eosinophils
Type 2= Cytotoxic
IgG/M response against self+foreign Ag on cell surface
Complement activated and NK cells triggered
Get cell lysis+necrosis
Often due to penicillin or Rhesus
Type III= Immune Complex
IgG/M response against soluble Ag
Get vasculitis
Causes= serum sickness, SLE
Symps depends on where complex is
Type IV= Delayed
Ag specific T cell cytotoxicity
Commonly nickel+ contact dermatitis
