Aerobic And Anaerobic Flashcards
Where is glucose stored ?
Glucose is stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. This can be converted back to glucose for the use of doing exercise.
What are the components that are brought to the muscles when respiration takes place ?
Glucose and oxygen is brought to the muscles in the blood
What is the equation for anaerobic ?
Glucose- energy+lactic acid
Name me examples of anaerobic sports?
Sprinting and weightlifting
How does lactic acid effect your body ?
Lactic acid is toxic as it makes your muscles ache meaning you cramp up . This means you cannot carry on with your sport.Whilst having a break your body is going through oxygen debt meaning that your body needs to pay oxygen back.
Glucose
A major source of energy for most cells in body
Aerobic respiration
The process of releasing energy from glucose using oxygen
Anaerobic respiration
The process of releasing energy from glucose , without oxygen.
Aerobic exercise
Working at a moderate intensity allowing the moderate intensity allowing the body time to utilise oxygen for energy production and to work for a continuous period , e,g long distance events .
Lactic acid
A colourless acid produced in muscle tissues during strenuous exercise when the body is exercising anaerobically at high intensity.
Cramp
Painful , involuntary contraction of a muscle , usually caused by fatigue .
