Q

What happens after someone enters the correct code in order to access the flight deck?

A

It causes a cockpit buzzer to sound for approximately 30 seconds. If the pilots inside make no response the door will automatically unlock after about 20 seconds, and will remain unlocked for only 5 seconds to allow emergency entry. After the 5 seconds the door automatically relocks. If the pilots do respond by selecting the cockpit door switch to LOCK, the buzzer turns off, the cockpit door remains locked, and no further request can be made for 20 minutes.
