A320/321 Dimensions Flashcards
How long is the wingspan of all A320/321 models?
117’ 5”
How long are the A320’s?
123’ 3”
How long are the A321’s?
146’
What’s the tail height on all A320 and A321 models?
38’ 7”
How far apart are the main gears on all A320/321 models?
24’ 11”
What’s the fuselage width on all A320/31 models?
12’ 11”
How wide is the horizontal stabilizer on all A320/321 models?
40’ 10”
What are the unpressurized areas on all A320/321 models?
Radome, nose gear bay, main gear bay, air conditioning compartment, and tail cone.
Where are the 3 VHF antenna locations?
VHF 1: Top of the fuselage just aft of the flight deck
VHF 2: Bottom of the fuselage just aft of the main gear, directly opposed to VHF 3 on the top of the fuselage
VHF 3: Top of the fuselage just aft of the main gear, directly opposed to VHF 2 on the bottom of the fuselage
Where are the localizer and glideslope antennas located?
On the nose inside the radome
Where are the 2 GPS/MMR antennas located? Regular GPS antennas?
GPS/MMR antennas if installed are located directly above the flight deck, fore of the VHF 1 antenna. The Regular GPS antenna’s are located on the top of the fuselage just aft of the L1 door.
Where is the aircrafts ELT antenna?
Top of the fuselage just fore of the vertical stabilizer
Where are the HF antennas located if installed?
Leading edge of the vertical stabilizer
Where is the VOR antenna installed?
Top of the vertical stabilizer
Where are the DME antennas installed?
DME 1: Bottom of the fuselage just below the flight deck
DME 2: Bottom of the fuselage, aft of DME 1, approximately below the L1 door
What’s the theoretical minimum pavement for a 180º turn in a 321?
93’
What’s the theoretical minimum pavement width to perform a 180º turn in an A320?
75’
In an A320, is it true during a 180º turn, that if your nose clears an obstacle, that your wing will clear?
No. Your wing will actually extend about 15’ further than your nose.
In an A321, is it true during a 180º turn that if your nose clears, that your wing will clear?
It’s a little unclear in the diagram in Vol 3, but it appears that yes, your wing will clear. Your horizontal stabilizer however will not clear.
Should you attempt a 180º turn in an A321, on a 100’ wide runway?
While theoretically possible, vol 3 says that the recommended procedure leads leads to a turning radius of 99’ which is too close for me to attempt it. I’d try it in an A320 however as vol 3 says if done according to the recommended procedure you’ll only use about 79’ of radius.
What’s the angle you can see downward from the flight deck over the nose inside the proper seating position?
20º
In the proper seating position with the aircraft on the ground, how much pavement in front of you is obscured by the nose?
41’
In an A321 which part of the aircraft has the widest turning radius?
The horizontal stabilizer
In an A320 which part of the aircraft has the widest turning radius?
The wingtips
