6.10 Digestion Of Protein Cabs And Fats Flashcards

1
Q

What are the 3 enzymes called for proteins and what do they do?

A

Endopeptidase- hydrolysis peptide bonds in the middle of the protein
Dipeptidase- hydrolyses peptide bonds to make single amino acids

Q

What is the process in which lipids are absorbed?

A

Lipid droplets are emulsified into monoglycerides and fatty acids with bile salts called micelles
Monoglycerides and fatty acids are absorbed into the epithelial cells
They are modified in the SER and join with a protein in the Golgi to become chylomicrons
They then enter a lacteal which transports them away from the intestine into the capillarys
