3.7 Mitosis Flashcards
What are the individual strands on a chromosome called
Chromatids
What holds chromatids together in chromosomes
Centromere
What is the order of mitosis
Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase
What happens in the Prophase
Centrioles for a network of protein fibres (spindle fibres)
Chromosomes condense
The nuclear envelope + Nucleolus breaks down
What happens in the Metaphase
Chromosomes align along the spindle fibers
Nucleus completely breaks down
What happens in the Anaphase
Centromeres divide which split chromosomes as their pulled to a centriole at different poles of the cell
What happens in the Telophase
The cell begins to split and in each cell the chromosomes are enveloped in the nuclear envelope again, cytokinesis also begins (division of cytoplasm)
