For hazardous materials or weapons of mass destruction events the officers should:
1. Contain and secure the area from the public
2. Try to determine what the substance is from a safe distance.
3. Assist FD with Ingress and egress routes. But do not expose self to known contaminant.
4. Isolate anyone who had contact with the material
5. Keep POs away from fumes, smoke or dust
6. Stop and detour vehicle traffic in the area
7. NO food or drinks

The area lieutenant/incident commander shall assume command of all LVMPD police operations until relieved by a senior command officer. The senior officer must verbally assume command T/F?

First LVMPD member on the Scene will:
1. Stay up wind, don’t be exposed without proper protection
2. establish a security perimeter and establish designated contaminated area.
3. Evaluate and inform communications of:
- Location
- Type of material
- Carrier make and type
- Injuries
- Need for additional assistance
- Wind direction
As First Supervisor on the Scene for CBRNE event I will:
1. Establish CP
2. Have first two officers check area for secondary devices without touching them if found.
3. Check perimeter, ensure no PO enter contaminated area without proper protective equipment.

- Coordinate the evacuation of the area downwind with ARMOR or FD. POs will not conduct rescue without proper protective equipment and being trained on its use.
As the first Sgt. On scene for a CBRNE event part of my duties are to:
1. Evacuate people who are downwind from the spillage by working with ARMOR or FD.
a. Do so according to the guidelines of the Table of Isolation and Evacuation distances which is found in the Hazardous Materials Book.
NOTE: Department members will NOT conduct rescues without utilizing the proper protective equipment and being trained on its use
