What causes Globalisation?
improved transport and communication, capitalisms search for resources and workers
what can be a result of Globalisation?
Hybrid cultures - due to the overlapping of cultures and different societies adopting other societies norms and values

more money - good for the economy

membership of international organisations e.g. the EU, UN protect us through policies such as the human rights act
How has increased travel been a positive of globalisation?
allowed businesses to move overseas, providing jobs in LICs, spreading culture and bringing workers over to us
New technology is a positive of globalisation, how has it benefited us?
increased communication, spread of new ideas, advancements e.g. in medicine, relief work, aid overseas
How could growth of business be seen as a negative of globalisation?
taking resources from other countries making them poorer
What could be the negatives of increased trade and travel?
deforestation (due to demand for resources), Global warming (fuel for travel)
How could the spread of ideas be seen as a negative aspect of globalisation?
spread of intolerance, extremist views and terrorism
How could new forms of culture be seen as a negative aspect of globalisation?
loss of traditional culture
One negative of globalisation is homogenisation, what does this mean?
everyone becoming the same one global culture, often seen as the result of the spread of western culture
What are the negatives of businesses travelling overseas to find workers?
fewer jobs here, exploitation of poor workers in LICs, low pay, child labour, poor conditions, sweat shops
What has increased travel made it easier for? (negative)
spread of disease - epidemics
How may isolated tribes be affected negatively by globalisation?
Loss of traditional culture - Loss of way of life, exposure to western diseases, land loss
What could be a negative of technology and the internet?
cyber crimes, scams, identity theft
what is happening to uncontacted tribes like the Awa?
invasion and destruction of their land, disease, forced to fight for their rights to their land
How have campaigns led by internet organisations helped tribes like the Awa?
provide public, legal and practical support.

not positive for everyone for some it results in exclusion e.g. those without internet access
