Attend to client state of being
Observe watch for most obvious and more subtle visual/verbal clues as to what client is experiencing and use to give direction and questions to ask
Observing the client to
-Mood outward expression of emotional state of a person from moment to moment - affect is a sustained emotion throughout the session - presence— ability of the client to be in the moment with the coach
Emotional intelligence
Ability to recognize her own feelings and process them in a positive way/discern feelings of others and show empathy

Types of emotions

**Cognitive reappraisal test question
Stepping back and becoming an observer to a stressful situation. separate the event and our interpretations of the event. naming the threat can calm the amygdala and enables more constructive activity in the problem-solving part of the brain.
*****Generative moment/relational flow
Coaches and clients perceive themselves as being in sync and engage in inter-dependent collaborative dialogue
Word of caution about generative moment
Could deep in the emotions of the client -foster emotional dependency -instigate resistance -time and could be off -they could take you out of scope of practice
Empathy and nonviolent communication
Observations, Feelings, Needs/Values, and Requests (referred to as OFNR). They are used when empathizing with our self and others, or in sharing our honest self-expression.

Foster self compassion
coach radiate warmth, patience and empathy, clients are better able to let go and feel self compassion.
Formula for self compassion
- mindful acceptance of negative emotions, (naming). 2. heartfelt connection 3. common human experience, self kindness
Benefits of self compassion
- Better connection with others 2. feelings of confidence sense of security 3. creativity and clarity 4. better choices which completes the cycle of confidence and self competency
