What level of significance should be used?
A
0.05 level of significance unless the question tells you otherwise

What does 0.05 mean?
A
5% occurred by chance (extraneous variables are not controlled)
You are 95% sure the IV manipulation (conditions) caused by the DV effect (measurement)

What is nominal data?
A
Data from categories i.e. smoker 300, non smoker 750

What is ordinal data?
A
Data ordered i.e. smallest to largest
It is subjective
I.e. how happy you are today/ how well you slept 1-7

What is interval data?
A
Equal units increments between each unit (time, distance, temp)

How do you choose a test?
A
- Is it a test of difference or relationship/ correlation/ association
- What is the level of measurements (data) -> nominal, ordinal or interval
- What is the experimental design (how are ppts used -> independent or repeated)
