Weight and Balance CBT's Flashcards
What is the definition of basic empty weight? (BEW)
Standard basic empty weight plus or minus the weight of any item variations.
What is the definition of basic operating weight (BOW)?
Basic empty weight plus operational items.
Note: Operational items are things like crew, crew bags, meals, loading devices, etc.
Define zero fuel weight
Basic operating weight plus payload. (This is essentially a planning function only. So the dispatcher estimates X lbs of passengers or cargo for the flight. In an effort to avoid being too heavy for takeoff, they create a maximum zero fuel weight so that you wont be over MTOW after fueling.)
What is maximum zero fuel weight?
The maximum allowable weight before usable fuel must be loaded
Define payload
Weight of all persons additional to required flight crew, their bags, food and all cargo. (basically all weight that is not fuel or crew/crew bags or food).
Define useful load
The difference between takeoff weight and operational empty weight.
What is MAC?
Mean Aerodynamic Chord
On a swept wing, the wing is tapered so it is not constant. The MAC is the mean (or average) width of the chord of the wing.
What is SABLE?
A computer program that generates load plan information.
What is NOTOC?
2 types.
Dangerous goods (DG)
Special Cargo (SC)
When ZFW is more than PZFW by ______ lbs, a new or amended release is required.
22,000 lbs
