Fuel CBT's Flashcards
How many fuel tanks? What are they?
7 total.
Left to right:
-Reserve 2
-Main 1
-Main 2
-Center Wing Tank (CWT)
-Main 3
-Main 4
-Reserve 3
Where is the fuel temperature sensor? How many?
Main tank 1. Only 1 of them
What is a FSMC? What do they do?
Fuel System Management Cards
They are computer chips that modulate valves and pumps on and off depending on fuel system logic, or manual selection.
How many surge tanks? Where are they?
- One on each outboard wingtip.
Each main tank has _____ fuel pumps. There are also ______ fuel pumps in main tanks _______.
2 AC fuel pumps
2 override/jettison
2 and 3.
The center wing tank has ___ jettison/override pumps.
2
How many crossfeed valves?
4
How many scavenge pumps and where are they?
4 total. They are all in the center wing tank.
The temperature normally displays in white, but displays in amber if the temperature is ____ or below.
-37ºC
The quantity for each tank normally displays in white. The quantity for the main tanks displays in amber if __________________.
there is an imbalance condition
or if the quantity is less than 900 kg
Explain how the reserve tanks work.
The reserve tanks are not controllable by the pilots. You have reserve 2 and reserve 3. (left and right). When fuel in main tank 2 gets below 18,200KG, the reserve transfer valves would open up and gravity feed main tank 2. Same with the right side, reserve tank automatically will feed main tank 3.
The center wing tank has 2 main pumps. These are capable of providing pressure to all the fuel system and when active, override all other pumps. True or false?
True.
Can each engine suction feed from any tank?
No. Only from its respective main tank.
APU fuel is normally supplied from______.
main tank 2
How many DC fuel pumps? Where are they? What are they for?
Only 1 DC pump
Located in Main tank 2
Used for APU start when AC power unavailable.
