Anti-Ice, Rain System Flashcards
What do the NACELLE ANTI-ICE switches do?
OFF- Nacelle anti-icing valve commanded closed
AUTO- Nacelle anti-icing valve opens (as described below in the ON description) when system detects ice (some models don’t have AUTO)
ON-
-Nacelle anti-icing valve commanded open when bleed air pressure available
-Engine igniters (if in AUTO) commanded to operate continuously by the EEC
-Engine bleed PRV valve opens
When would nacelle anti-ice not be available, even if you are in flight with the engines running?
If the PRV valve is closed by:
-Bleed air overheat
-Start valve not closed
-Engine bleed HP valve failed open
What does the WING ANTI-ICE switch do?
OFF- Wing anti-icing valves are commanded closed
AUTO- (some models dont have auto) In flight when LE flaps retracted, the wing anti-ice valves open when ice is detected.
ON- In flight, the wing anti-icing valves commanded open
You see an amber VALVE in the lower half of the wing anti-ice switch. Why is this?
Position of either wing anti-icing valve disagrees with switch position
On the EICAS, near N1, you see a green NAI and a green WAI. What does this mean?
NAI: Nacelle anti-icing valve open
WAI: Wing anti-icing valve open
The windows are electrically heated. The switches are self explanatory. On the window heat switch, what does an amber INOP on the lower half of the switch tell you?
Either:
-The switch if off (Normally ON)
-An overheat has occurred
-A system fault has occurred
The wipers have 3 settings, what are they?
OFF, LO, and HI (some models have INT)
What do the WASHER switches do?
They are spring loaded, you can dispense washer fluid onto the windows
Where is the washer fluid stored/serviced?
In the cockpit, captains side, book stowage area, behind a panel
How many ice detectors? (if installed) Where are they?
2 ; on the forward fuselage (sides of the nose)
Wing anti-ice operates only when_____
In flight AND when LE flaps are retracted
All windows have _______. (in terms of ice protection)
Anti-fogging (interior air flow) and outside surface heat
Do not use windshield wipers __________to avoid scratching.
when the windows are dry
TAT probes are heated ______ when ______.
electrically, when in flight
How many pitot static probes? How many angle of attach probes? How are they heated? When do they become heated?
4 pitot static, 2 AOA probes. They are all heated electrically.
Pitot static probes and AOA probes are heated whenever an engine is operating
