Fire System Flashcards
What does the FIRE/OVHT TEST switch do?
Push and hold: Runs a whole system detection test. A successful test will give EICAS indication FIRE TEST PASS.
What happens when you pull an engine fire switch? Rotate it?
PULL:
-Closes spar fuel valve
-Closes bleed air valve
-Turns off IDG
-Shuts off hydraulic fluid and depressurizes engine hydraulic pump
-Arms both related fire extinguisher bottles (2 per wing)
Rotate: Rotate to either A or B and it blows that bottle
How many fire bottles per wing?
2
A and B
What does it mean when the engine fire switch is illuminated red?
Either a fire is detected or you are doing a fire test
Normally, for any fire switch, its locked until a fire is detected. Can you override this lock?
Yes, using the override switch above the handle
How many fire bottles for the APU?
1
What happens when you pull the APU fire switch? Rotate it?
PULL:
-Arms fire bottle
-closes fuel valve
-closes bleed air valve
-closes inlet door
-trips generator and breaker
-Shuts down APU
ROTATE: Discharges bottle
What happens when you push the MAIN cargo fire arm switch?
-Enables main deck fire suppression
-Turns off 2 packs
-Configures equipment cooling to closed loop
-Turns off all airflow to main deck and all airflow and heat into lower cargo compartments
-Closes master trim air valve
What happens when you push either FWD or AFT cargo fire arm switches?
-Turns off 2 packs
-Arms lower cargo fire bottles
-Configures equipment cooling to override mode
-Turns off all airflow and heat into lower cargo compartments
-Closes master trim air valve
With the MAIN cargo fire arm switch armed, what happens when you press the CARGO FIRE DEPRESS/DISCH switch?
It depressurizes the aircraft
With either FWD or AFT cargo fire arm switches armed, what happens when you press the CARGO FIRE DEPRESS/DISCH switch?
It initiates extinguisher discharge sequence to provide effective agent concentration for 210 minutes. (400F.. lots of different times for different variants)
What areas of the aircraft have fire detection?
-APU
-Engines
-Cargo compartments
-Lavatories
-Crew rest (No protection)
-Main gear wells (No protection)
The fire warning bell sounds for _____ then a ______ off cycle
one second ON
10 seconds OFF
cycle
How many fire detection loops for each engine? How many loops must be triggered for fire detection?
2 (dual loop)
Both loops (unless configured for single loop operation)
How many fire detection loops for APU? How many loops must be triggered for fire detection?
2 (dual loop) however either loop causes warning
