it can reduce it
What does biotin deficiency present as?
poor hair coats, alopecia, scaly dermititis, and achromotrichia
What is achromotrichia?
lack of hair color
What does biotin deficiency present as in cats, mink, and foxes?
anorexia, scaly dermatitis around the mouth and eyes, hyper salivation, and alopecia
What type of food is biotin deficiency associated with in cats, minks, and foxes?
diets containing high fats, especially if the fat is rancid because it oxidizes biotin resulting in deficiency
How can raw egg white diets lead to biotin deficiency?
because the egg whites contain avidin which binds to biotin making it unavailable for absorption
What does biotin deficiency in cattle and horses result in?
poor hoof growth and hoof harness
