A
  1. Use a pH balanced soap substitute, rather than soap, to clean the genital area.

  3. Wear loose-fitting cotton underwear.
  4. Avoid wearing pantyhose, tight pants or tight underwear.
  5. Avoid having intercourse during an episode of vaginal thrush.
  6. Avoid local irritants for example, perfumed soaps, bath oils etc.
  7. Avoid using tampons, powders or deodorants during episodes of vaginal thrush.
  8. If treatment coincides with a menstrual period, use sanitary pads instead of tampons during therapy.
  9. Wipe from front to back when going to the toilet.
  10. Ensure any underlying medical conditions (for example, diabetes) are well controlled
  11. For topical treatments, wear sanitary pads as the creams may leak out
