- Temperature reads over 38˚C (normal body temp range: 35-37˚C)
- Refusing to drink/refusing feeds
- Unwell and hot to touch
- In pain/uncomfortable
- Irritable or crying
- More sleepy than usual
- Vomiting
- Shivering
- Facial flushing

A
- Febrile convulsions
- If child is under 3 months old
- Fever without any other symptoms
- Persistent fever with no improvement in 48 hours (or fevers for 3-5 days or longer)
- Joint swelling
- Non-blanching rash
- Child is not rousable or does not stay awake (drowsy and unresponsive)
- Signs of dehydration
- Stiff neck, persistent headache, sensitive to light
- Temp is ≥39˚C in children aged 3-6 months and non-responsive to paracetamol/ibuprofen
- Persistent vomiting or diarrhea
- Respiratory rate decreases (problem breathing)
