Universalizing Religion
Belief systems that are attractive to the general public. No matter the background.
Examples: Proselytizing - seek to “share good news” Ex: Christianity accepts anyone and everyone
Christianity
A universal religion based off of Jesus Christ (son of god)’s teachings. Began on West Bank / Israel around the beginning of the common era
Islam
A universal religion about the teachings of Muhammad that initially came from Mecca in the 7th century
Buddhism
This is the oldest universal religion, which rose in north eastern India in the 6th century BCE and is based of teachings of Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha)
Ethnic Religion
Not everyone is welcome it is commonly born into
Hinduism
An ethnic religion that rose thousands of years ago in South Asia also closely tied with India
Judaism
The worlds first monotheistic religion developed amongst Hebrew people in Southwest Asia 1,000 years ago
Secularized
Focus on worldly matters rather than spiritual
Polytheistic
Polytheistic faith in multiple gods
Poly - multiple Theistic - faith in god
Examples: Hinduism, Shinto
Non-theist
No gods worshipped
Non - none Theist - faith in god
No belief in a higher worship
Monotheistic
Mono - 1 Theist - faith in a god
Monotheistic the faith in a singular religion
Examples: Christianity , Islam, Judaism
