Dependency Ratio
The number of people who are dependent (opposite of independent). Also known as people under 16 or people over the age of 65. Then divided by the # of working people multiplied by 100
Sex Ratio
The amount of men to women in a certain area
Examples: There was a ratio of Women to men @ my party of 4:2
Population Replacement Rate
Demographics
Data about the structures & characteristics of human populations
Fertility
The ability to have children
Examples: My mother no longer has fertility because she cannot bear children
Crude birth rate
The # of births in a certain year for every 1,000 people in a given area
Crude death rate
The # of deaths a given year for every 1,000 people in a certain population
Total fertility Rate
The average # of children a single person will ear from years 15-49
Mortality
Death as a component that affect change in population
Infant Mortality Rate
The # of deaths under the age of 1 for every 1,000 people
Life expectancy
The average # of years a person is predicted to live
Population pyramids
a graph that shows the distribution of age & sex throughout an area
