Rate of Natural Increase
The difference between crude Birth Rate (CBR) & Crude death rate (CDR) of a certain group of people
Examples: High RNI = High population growth. Yet, it doesn’t take Immigration into account. So it doesn’t tell the whole story.
Doubling Time
The amount of years it will take for a population to double at a certain rate
Examples: Can change from eye to year but it’s useful to compare trends from country - country & region - region
Urbanization
The growth / development of cities
Examples: more present in core countries. Periphery countries remain more rural
Overpopulation
A population that goes over the sustainable size AKA Carry Capacity
Examples: Several people believe that the world is overpopulated and soon will reach said carrying capacity
Neo - Malthusians
The idea that Earth’s resources can only sustain a limited amount of people
Examples: These are the people that believe that Earth is quickly reaching overpopulation
Deomographic Transition Model
The way the world’s population changes & shifts throughout the years
Epidemiological Transition Model
Changes in fertility , mortality, population, and life expectancy
