Globalization
This is the expansion of cultural economic, and political processes on a worldwide scale
Theory
A theory is a series of ideas put together for the purpose of explaining one of the worlds’ phenomena
Examples: Newtons laws because an apple fell from a tree proving gravity
World system theory
This is a theory that helps explain the relationship between spatial & functional in countries
Core
These are when countries one more wealthy & generally just better off
Examples: Better communications, infrastructure, stable governments, strong political alliances, economically & politically dominant, highly interconnected , and good transportation
Periphery
Periphery is the exact opposite Core. Periphery is when countries are NOT well off
Examples: Less wealth, lower education, less sophisticated technology, less stable governments, poorer services E.g. health care = and inadequate infrastructure
Semi - periphery
Is when a country has core & periphery attributes. They have potential to become core countries & are in the process of industrializing
Examples: They have better transportation & communication networks, etc.
Sustainable development
This is when people of the present work hard to make sure their needs are met while also not taking that opportunity from future generations.
Examples: Consideration of natural resources, making the best use of renewable resources, & effort to reduce pollution / waste
