Mobility
All types of movement from one place to another
Examples: I show off my mobility as a walk to my desk
Circulation
Temporary and repetitive movements that recur on a regular basis
Human Migration
The percentage of people moving from one place to another
Emigration
People who left an area in order to go to another
Examples: My dad Emigrated from Ghana to the United States (EMigartion = out)
Immigration
Moving into a new location from another
Examples: I immigrated in Plainfield from Joliet (Immigration)
Net Migration
The difference between the # of emigrants & Immigrants in a specific location
Examples: 30 people left Chicago but 25 came. The net migration is 5
Gravity Model
A model that predicts interaction between two or more things. Derived from Newtons law of universal gravitation
Push Factors
Negative things that push population away from an area
Examples: Many people realizing how low the chances of them getting gold was California’s push factor. ( Causing ghost towns)
Pull Factor
A positive factor that pulls population towards a certain area
Examples: The California gold rush was the pull factor to California
