The judgment of a culture from the outside looking in (comparing they cultural beliefs to the standards your own)
Examples: Believing your culture is superior
Cultural Norms
Things that NORMALized throughout a CULTURE (shared standards / practices)w
Traditional culture
long standing traditions passed down from generation to generation
Examples: Also known as folk culture
Cultural Relativism
Looking at culture through the perspective of the people who practice it
Examples: Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes (relate to culture)
Popular culture
Widespread quickly changing, trends within society
Examples: Converse, cargo pants, any 90’s trend “I come back stronger than a 90’s trend”
Mentifacts
The central (center) of someones culture. The ideas and beliefs that have been hardly installed, not easily changed
Sociofacts
Things that alter social behaviors
Examples: school, government, etc
Artifacts
Buildings, clothing (physical objects that a culture creates)
Cultural trait
A shared object / cultural practice (varies across regions)
