Q

Baseball grip to arm drag guillotine defense

A

From front headlock or guillotine bottom…

Tuck your chin and use your cross side hand to get a thumb in grip on the choking wrist. Monkey grip with the other hand on the choking wrist.Keep your head in the center of their chest to prevent them from finishing the choke…

Pull down and away far enough to get your head out and onto the other (tricep) side of the arm. Think of straightening the arm but you don’t have to get it fully locked out. Just get your head out.

Use your grips to arm drag and move to the back…

Tips:
If they snap you forward while in bottom of headlock tostretch you out…dont post, instead, slide your knees towards them to ruin their angle and force them to readjust.

Q

Escape from front headlock #1-tricep grip w/ spear

A

From bottom of front headlock position on your knees…
Grab the choking arm to protect your neck then use your other hand to climb up the arm so that you are grabbing firmly behind the tricep in an arm drag position. You may need to climb the arm more than once to get in a good position…

Remove your choke defending hand, post it on the mat and use it for balance as you step up your leg on the same side as your tricep grip. Don’t step straight up but sort of out to the side loading up your leg. You want to drive forward, not stand up…

Take your posting hand and use it to grab behind their near thigh…
Push off your posted leg and pull your head out as you turn the corner to come to back control…

Variation/ Escape #2
As above but the opponents grip is very tight and is preventing you from turning and getting your head out…

Switch your grip on the tricep so that your near hand is gripping it…
Use your other hand to tap behind their near knee as you drive into them with your posted foot. This will push them backwards into their dead angle…
As soon as you land drag your ear across their chest to come to side control top…

Q

Escape combo from front headlock- tricep grip 2

A

From front headlock bottom …

Climb up the tricep that’s attacking your neck and get a firm grip on it with your cross side arm…

Post with your hand on that same side as the tricep grip…

Get heavy on the knee on that side and shoot your other knee back pulling them forward and turning the corner as you do so…

As you turn the corner throw your posted hand up-and-over their shoulder/ lat. Pull their tricep off your head and come to back control with control of their near arm …

If you go to pull and turn the corner and they don’t let go they will usually get up and allow you to shoot in for a single and pass the guard that way by pushing them backwards onto there butt …

If you pull and they don’t let go they will most likely pull back you can then post with your front leg keeping your tricep grip spear their rear leg and do the same basic escape moving forward…

Q

Rolling/ Inversion recovery

A

They have passed your guard and you’re on your side facing away from them. They are in a side control/ back take type position. You’re facing too far away to turn into them…

Prevent the back take by making sure they don’t connect their hands in a seatbelt grip. Do this by getting a two on one grip on their lower arm…

Bring your feet in towards your body and bend your knees. Extend the legs and lift your hips past the arm you’re controlling. You want to put your butt in front of their face. Control the hand as much as possible while you do this…

Once your hips are past their arm, swing your outside leg out and around to recover the guard…

If this fails and you end up in turtle. Try to transition through the position as quickly as possible. Roll all the way through and get back to guard if possible…

If you get stuck in turtle. Don’t let them connect their hands. Control their top arm with a two on one grip…

Try to get your head to the other side of their top arm while maintaining your 2 on one grip. This will make it impossible for them to take the back…

Reach back and grab their far leg and sit down on your hip so that you’re facing them. Re-guard or drive into them while elevating their leg to come on top…
