Move back to side control
From North South Bottom…
The goal is to get back to side control and escape from there…
- They have two over hooks, trapping both your arms…
Swim one arm under their body and onto their rib cage on the other side. Both your arms are now on the same side…
Walk your feet toward their feet so that you’re back in side control. Once you’re back in side control immediately grab their tricep and go for the arm push escape. Unless they have gotten the cross face back their arm should right in front of you for this escape…
- One over hook and one underhook…
Briidge into them to bring them up and get your free arm under their body so that both hands are on the same side as above…
Walk your feet towards their feet for side control and be sure to control their hip with your forearm to keep them from pressuring into you…
Reach across your body and grab their tricep. Use this grip to start to pull your other arm out. Once it’s out, start to rock and get to your elbow. Scoot out and get to your hand. Keep scooting out as they try to pressure back into you. Keep your head high the whole time during the escape…

Invert and re-guard
As they move from side control to north south…
Get the forearm that was controlling their hip under their far shoulder. Get a similar position on the other side so that both shoulders are supported on your forearms and they are unable to settle on you…
Bring your knees up and under their shoulders. Support their weight on your knees and pass one arm under their body so that both arms are on the same side. Use your hands and knees to pivot and recover guard…

Over under escape
From north south bottom
One arm in and one arm out…
Use your in arm to push their head up and away, grab the throat or chin and push straight up. This should create enough space for your to get onto your side and maneuver back into side control with an underhook or at least be on your side…
