North South Top Flashcards
North South Kimura and choke
From north south top…
You’re sprawling back and have one arm under and one arm over…
Trap the arm you have the overhook on by wrapping around it and grabbing your own lapel if possible. Drive forward towards their feet while keeping the arm trapped. You want to bring their shoulder off the mat on that side. Block their hips with your other hand…
At some point their hand will pop from the near side of your face to the other side. As soon as it does, apply the kimura grip. Your hips are still more or less down.
Come up to your knees and straddle them, use your ken to turn their face to the ground when your move to the straddle position. This will twist the spine…
Glue their tricep to your chest and pull up on the arm to finish. You want to break any grips they have with a deadlift type motion. Your dead lift is stronger than their grip…
As you pressure into them to initiate this move, their head will likely come off the ground. When it does it opens them up to the north south choke…Grab the choke, make them look away from you (use your ribs) and put your bicep into their neck… sprawl back until they tap. Keep sprawling back to lift their chin if needed. You can link the hands but it’s not always needed if you sprawl back.

Modified Arm triangle
From North south Top with both their arms in.
Overhook one arm and walk towards it with your toes. Use your other arm to get under their armpit and pry that arm away from their body. Get perpendicular to them…
Pass your arm under their head and pressure down on their bicep for the modified arm triangle…
