Egg develops and is released from the ovary
This is called ovulation
When is stage 4

Wall is maintained for 14 days and if no fertilised egg has landed on the uterus wall by day 28 the spongy lining starts to break down and the cycle starts again
What 4 hormones are involved in menstruation
FSH
Oestrogen
LH
Progesterone
Where and why is FSH produced
Produced urn the pituitary gland
Causes the egg to mature in one of the ovaries in a structure called a follicle
Stimulates ovaries to produce oestrogen
Where and why is oestrogen produced
Produced in the ovaries
Causes the lining of the uterus to build up
Stimulates the release of LH and prevents the release of FSH
Where and why is LH produced
Produced by the pituitary gland
Stimulates the releases of an egg on day 14
What does FSH stand for
Follicle stimulating hormone
What does LH stand for
Luteinising hormone
What is progesterone produced by
The remains of the follicle after ovulation
