What is the environmental influence continuum? (EIC)

A
  • The EIC considers the factors that surround a performer as they execute their skill.
  • Closed skills - not affected by the environment because they’re predictable - the timing of the skill is down to the individual, there are very few variables that are outside their control
  • Open skills - are affected by the undpredictable and changing environment - the completion of the skills is influenced by conditions of play, teammates and opponents
