Topic 18 - Adult connective tissue Flashcards
types of adult CT
Loose,
dens(reg/ireg),
reticular,
adipose(brown/whote)
-Loose:
most widely distributed
oc: around blood vessels and nerves, bw muscles bundles,
func: support, damping, tissure repare and defence
Free and fixed cells dominates, collagen, elastic and reticular fibres and ground substance
-Dense irregular:
Collagen fibres, are dominantBundles crossing at varying angles. fibroblasts and fibrocytes dominate cell types
oc: aponeuroses, muscular fascia, dermis and organ capsules
-Dense regular:
Collagen fibres arranged in same plane and direction.
Oc: collagen tendons and elastic ligaments
-Reticular:
composed of stellate reticular cells and 3D-network of reticular fibres.
forms stroma of lymphatic organs
-White adipose:
composed ofUnilocular adipocytes, collagen and reticular fibres.
func: provide insulation, dampening, store energy and hormone production
-Brown adipose:
composed of Multilocular adipocytes, collagen and reticular fibres.
func: provides non-shivering thermogenesis
oc: newborns rodets and hibernating animals
