سورة الانسان : The Time

Question 1

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا ‎﴿١﴾‏

Answer 1

There has come upon man a period of time in which he was nothing worth mentioning.

Question 2

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا ‎﴿٢﴾

Answer 2

We have created man from a mixed sperm drop to put him to a test. Then We made him able to hear, able to see.

Question 3

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ‎﴿٣﴾

Answer 3

We have shown him the way to be either grateful or ungrateful.

Question 4

إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَ وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا ‎﴿٤﴾

Answer 4

We have prepared for the disbelievers shackles and iron collars and a blazing fire.

Question 5

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا ‎﴿٥﴾‏

Answer 5

Indeed the righteous will have a drink from a goblet blended with a drink from camphor.

Question 6

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا ‎﴿٦﴾

Answer 6

That will be a spring from which Allah (s.w.t)’s servants will drink making it flow wherever they wish, profusely.

Question 7

يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا ‎﴿٧﴾

Answer 7

They (are the ones who) fulfilled their vows and fear A Day whose evil events will spread far and wide.

Question 8

وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا ‎﴿٨﴾

Answer 8

And they give food out of their love for Him (Allah (s.w.t)) to the needy and the orphan and the captives.

Question 9

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا ‎﴿٩﴾

Answer 9

(Saying to them) we feed you only for the pleasure of Allah (s.w.t); we have no intention of (receiving) either a return from you or thanks.

Question 10

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا ‎﴿١٠﴾‏

Answer 10

In fact, we are fearful of A Day from the side of our Lord. That Day will be frowning, extremely stressful.

Question 11

فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا ‎﴿١١﴾‏

Answer 11

So Allah (s.w.t) will save them from the evil of That Day and will grant them bloom and delight.

Question 12

وَجَزَاهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا ‎﴿١٢﴾

Answer 12

And will give them in return for their patience, Paradise and garments of silk.

Question 13

مُّتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا ‎﴿١٣﴾

Answer 13

Wherein they will be reclining on couches, feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold.

Question 14

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا ‎﴿١٤﴾

Answer 14

And shades of gardens will be hanging low on them and there fruits will be placed totally under their command.

Question 15

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِآنِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا ‎﴿١٥﴾‏

Answer 15

Circulated amongst them will be vessels of silver and cups that will be as transparent as crystals.

Question 16

قَوَارِيرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا ‎﴿١٦﴾

Answer 16

Crystals (as shining as if made) of silver measured by those (who fill them) with due measure.

Question 17

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا ‎﴿١٧﴾

Answer 17

And they will be served with a goblet of a drink blended with ginger.

Question 18

عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا ‎﴿١٨﴾

Answer 18

Acquired from a spring therein called سلسبيل.

Question 19

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا ‎﴿١٩﴾‏

Answer 19

And circulating around them will be serving boys blessed with eternal youth. When you would see them, you would take them as scattered pearls.

Question 20

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا ‎﴿٢٠﴾

Answer 20

When you will look around there, you will see the bliss and magnificent realm.

Question 21

عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوا أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا ‎﴿٢١﴾

Answer 21

Upon them will be garments of green سندس (a kind of fine silk) and of استبرق (A kind of thick silk) and they will be adorned by bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink.

Question 22

إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَاءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا ‎﴿٢٢﴾

Answer 22

This is a reward for you and your effort has been appreciated.

Question 23

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ تَنزِيلًا ‎﴿٢٣﴾

Answer 23

Indeed We have revealed to you A Qur’an through a gradual process.

Question 24

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ آثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا ‎﴿٢٤﴾‏

Answer 24

So be steadfast patiently in obeying your Lord’s command and do not obey any one of them who is a sinner or ungrateful.

Question 25

وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا ‎﴿٢٥﴾‏

Answer 25

And pronounce The Name of Allah (s.w.t), morning and evening.

Question 26

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا ‎﴿٢٦﴾‏

Answer 26

And in some parts of the night, prostrate yourself before Him and pronounce His purity for long times at night.

Question 27

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَاءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا ‎﴿٢٧﴾‏

Answer 27

In fact these people love that which is immediate and neglect A heavy Day ahead of them.

Question 28

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا ‎﴿٢٨﴾‏

Answer 28

We have created them and have made their joints strong. And whenever We will, We would replace them with others like them, a total replacement.

Question 29

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا ‎﴿٢٩﴾

Answer 29

Indeed this is a reminder, so let anyone who so wishes, adopt a way to his Lord.

Question 30

‏ وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ‎﴿٣٠﴾

Answer 30

And you will not so wish, unless Allah (s.w.t) so wills. Indeed Allah (s.w.t) is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

Question 31

يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ‎﴿٣١﴾‏

Answer 31

He admits whomsoever He wills to His mercy. As for the wrongdoers, He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
