سورة القيامة : The Day of Judgement

Question 1

لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‎﴿١﴾

Answer 1

I swear by The Day of Ressurection.

Question 2

وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ ‎﴿٢﴾‏

Answer 2

And I swear by the self-reproaching soul (that resurrection is a reality).

Question 3

أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ ‎﴿٣﴾

Answer 3

Does man think that We will never reassemble his bones.

Question 4

بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ ‎﴿٤﴾

Answer 4

Why, can We not do so whilst We are able to reset even his fingertips perfectly.

Question 5

بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ ‎﴿٥﴾

Answer 5

But man wishes to go on violating Allah (s.w.t)’s injunctions (even in future) ahead of him.

Question 6

يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ ‎﴿٦﴾‏

Answer 6

He asks when will be this Day of Resurrection,

Question 7

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ ‎﴿٧﴾

Answer 7

So when the eyes will be dazzled.

Question 8

وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ ‎﴿٨﴾‏

Answer 8

And the moon will lose its sight.

Question 9

وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ‎﴿٩﴾

Answer 9

And the sun and the moon will be joined together.

Question 10

يَقُولُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ ‎﴿١٠﴾‏

Answer 10

On That Day man will say: ‘Where to escape?’.

Question 11

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ‎﴿١١﴾‏

Answer 11

Never, there will be no refuge at all.

Question 12

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ ‎﴿١٢﴾

Answer 12

On That Day towards your Lord will be The Destination (of everyone).

Question 13

يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ‎﴿١٣﴾‏

Answer 13

Men will be informed of what he sent ahead and what he left behind.

Question 14

بَلِ الْإِنسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ ‎﴿١٤﴾‏

Answer 14

Rather, man will be a witness against himself.

Question 15

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ ‎﴿١٥﴾

Answer 15

Even though he may offer his excuses.

Question 16

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ ‎﴿١٦﴾‏

Answer 16

(Oh prophet (s.a.w.)), Do not move your tongue (during revelation) for reciting it (The Qur’an) to receive it in hurry.

Question 17

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ ‎﴿١٧﴾

Answer 17

He is surely undertaken by Us to store it (in your heart) and to let it be recited (by you after revelation is completed).

Question 18

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ ‎﴿١٨﴾

Answer 18

Therefore, when it is recited by Us (through the angels), follow its recitation (by concentration of your heart).

Question 19

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ ‎﴿١٩﴾‏

Answer 19

Then it is undertaken by Us to explain it.

Question 20

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ ‎﴿٢٠﴾

Answer 20

Never (your denial of resurrection is never based upon any sound reason).

Question 21

وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ ‎﴿٢١﴾‏

Answer 21

Instead, you love that which is immediate and neglect The Hereafter.

Question 22

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ‎﴿٢٢﴾‏

Answer 22

Many faces That Day will be glowing.

Question 23

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ‎﴿٢٣﴾‏

Answer 23

Looking towards their Lord.

Question 24

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ ‎﴿٢٤﴾

Answer 24

And many faces That Day will be gloomy.

Question 25

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ‎﴿٢٥﴾

Answer 25

Realising that a back-breaking calamity is going to be afflicted on them.

Question 26

‏ كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ ‎﴿٢٦﴾

Answer 26

Never, (you will never remain in this world forever) when the soul (of a patient) reaches the clavicles.

Question 27

وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ ‎﴿٢٧﴾

Answer 27

And it is said: 'Who is the enchanter (that can save him)?'

Question 28

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ ‎﴿٢٨﴾

Answer 28

And he realises that it is (the time of) departure from the world.

Question 29

وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ ‎﴿٢٩﴾

Answer 29

And one shank is intertwined with the other shank.

Question 30

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ ‎﴿٣٠﴾

Answer 30

Then on That Day it is your Lord that one has to be driven.

Question 31

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ‎﴿٣١﴾‏

Answer 31

So (the denier of The Hereafter) neither believed nor prayed.

Question 32

وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ‎﴿٣٢﴾

Answer 32

But rejected the truth and turned away from it.

Question 33

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ ‎﴿٣٣﴾‏

Answer 33

Then, he went to his home puffed up with pride.

Question 34

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ‎﴿٣٤﴾‏

Answer 34

(It will be said to such a man) woe to you then woe to you.

Question 35

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ‎﴿٣٥﴾

Answer 35

Again, woe to you then woe to you.

Question 36

أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى ‎﴿٣٦﴾

Answer 36

Does man presume that he will be left unchecked?

Question 37

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ ‎﴿٣٧﴾

Answer 37

Was he not an ejaculated drop of semen?

Question 38

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ‎﴿٣٨﴾

Answer 38

Then he became a clot of blood, then He created him and made him perfect.

Question 39

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ ‎﴿٣٩﴾

Answer 39

And made from him two kinds; male and female.

Question 40

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ ‎﴿٤٠﴾

Answer 40

Has He no power to give life to the dead?
