سورة الواقعة : The Imminent Event (of doom)

Question 1

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

Answer 1

When the imminent event (of doom) will occur

Question 2

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ﴿٢﴾

Answer 2

There wll be noone to deny its occurence.

Question 3

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ﴿٣﴾

Answer 3

It will be abasing (some) and exalting (others).

Question 4

إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ﴿٤﴾

Answer 4

When the Earth will be jolted with a terrible jolt.

Question 5

وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ﴿٥﴾

Answer 5

And the mountains will be crumbled a thorough crumbling.

Question 6

فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُّنبَثًّا ﴿٦﴾

Answer 6

Until they will become dust scattered in the air.

Question 7

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً ﴿٧﴾

Answer 7

And you will be divided int three categories

Question 8

فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿٨﴾

Answer 8

As for the people of the right, how lucky are the people of the right?

Question 9

وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ ﴿٩﴾

Answer 9

As for the people of the left, how wretched are the people of the left?

Question 10

وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ ﴿١٠﴾

Answer 10

And the foremost are the foremost.

Question 11

أُولَـٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿١١﴾

Answer 11

Those are the ones blessed with the nearness (To Allah s.w.t).

Question 12

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ﴿١٢﴾

Answer 12

In gardens of bliss

Question 13

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٣﴾

Answer 13

Many from the first generations.

Question 14

وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴿١٤﴾

Answer 14

And a few from the later ones.

Question 15

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾

Answer 15

(They will be sitting) on thrones woven with gold

Question 16

مُّتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ ﴿١٦﴾

Answer 16

Reclining on them facing eachother

Question 17

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ ﴿١٧﴾

Answer 17

Immortal boys will rotate around them.

Question 18

بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ ﴿١٨﴾

Answer 18

With bowls and jugs and a goblet of pure wine.

Question 19

لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ ﴿١٩﴾

Answer 19

From which they will neither suffer headache nor will they be intoxicated.

Question 20

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ﴿٢٠﴾

Answer 20

And with fruits that they choose.

Question 21

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

Answer 21

And the flesh of birds that they desire

Question 22

وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ﴿٢٢﴾

Answer 22

And (For them there will be) Hur’s having lovely big eyes.

Question 23

كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ ﴿٢٣﴾

Answer 23

All (Neat and clean) like a hidden pearl

Question 24

جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾

Answer 24

As a reward for what they used to do.

Question 25

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ﴿٢٥﴾

Answer 25

They will have neither an absurd talk in it neither something leading to sin.

Question 26

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا ﴿٢٦﴾

Answer 26

But (they will hear) the words of سَلَامًا سَلَامًا (as greetings)

Question 27

وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ ﴿٢٧﴾

Answer 27

And the people of the right, how lucky are the people of the right.

Question 28

فِي سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ ﴿٢٨﴾

Answer 28

They will be (amid lote trees) with no thorns.

Question 29

وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ ﴿٢٩﴾

Answer 29

And the trees of طَلْحٍ (Banana or a fragrant tree) having layers one upon the other.

Question 30

وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ ﴿٣٠﴾

Answer 30

And a shade spread all over.

Question 31

وَمَاءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ ﴿٣١﴾

Answer 31

And water pored forth.

Question 32

وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ﴿٣٢﴾

Answer 32

And a lot of fruits.

Question 33

لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ﴿٣٣﴾

Answer 33

Neither interrupted (in any seasons) nor prohibited

Question 34

وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ ﴿٣٤﴾

Answer 34

And mattresses of high quality

Question 35

إِنَّا أَنشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنشَاءً ﴿٣٥﴾

Answer 35

Surely We have made up the females in a special creation

Question 36

فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ﴿٣٦﴾

Answer 36

And we have made them virgins

Question 37

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ﴿٣٧﴾

Answer 37

Amorous to their husbands, matching them in age.

Question 38

لِّأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿٣٨﴾

Answer 38

For the people of the right

Question 39

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٣٩﴾

Answer 39

Comprising many from the 1st generations

Question 40

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾

Answer 40

And many from the later generations

Question 41

وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ ﴿٤١﴾

Answer 41

And the people of the left, how wretched are the people of the left.

Question 42

فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ﴿٤٢﴾

Answer 42

They will be in scorching wind and boiling water.

Question 43

وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ﴿٤٣﴾

Answer 43

And in a shade of black smoke.

Question 44

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ﴿٤٤﴾

Answer 44

Neither cool nor graceful

Question 45

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾

Answer 45

They were earlier in luxuries.

Question 46

وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنثِ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿٤٦﴾

Answer 46

And used to persist in major sins.

Question 47

وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

Answer 47

And they used to say is it that when we die and become dust and bones that we will be raised again?

Question 48

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾

Answer 48

And our ancient fathers as well?

Question 49

قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾

Answer 49

Say: All the earlier and later ones

Question 50

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ﴿٥٠﴾

Answer 50

Will be gathered together for a fixed time of a specified day.

Question 51

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٥١﴾

Answer 51

Then oh you the erring, the denying people.

Question 52

لَآكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ ﴿٥٢﴾

Answer 52

You will have to eat from the tree of زَقُّومٍ

Question 53

فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ ﴿٥٣﴾

Answer 53

And to fill with it the bellies

Question 54

فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ ﴿٥٤﴾

Answer 54

Then on top of it, you will have to drink boiling water.

Question 55

فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ ﴿٥٥﴾

Answer 55

And to drink like camels suffering from the disease of overthirst.

Question 56

هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ﴿٥٦﴾

Answer 56

This will be their welcome entertainment on the Day of Judgement.

Question 57

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ﴿٥٧﴾

Answer 57

We have created you then why do you not believe in it?

Question 58

أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ ﴿٥٨﴾

Answer 58

So tell Me about the semen you drop (In the womb)?

Question 59

أَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ ﴿٥٩﴾

Answer 59

Is it you who created or are We The Creator?

Question 60

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿٦٠﴾

Answer 60

We have appointed (The time of) death amongst you and We cannot be frustrated

Question 61

عَلَىٰ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٦١﴾

Answer 61

From replacing you with others like you and creating you (Afresh) in that (Form) which you do not know.

Question 62

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٦٢﴾

Answer 62

And you certainly know the 1st creation. Then why do you not take lesson?

Question 63

أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ ﴿٦٣﴾

Answer 63

Well tell Me about that seed which you sow

Question 64

أَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ ﴿٦٤﴾

Answer 64

Is it you who grow it or are We The One who grow?

Question 65

لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ ﴿٦٥﴾

Answer 65

If We so will We can certainly make it crumble and you will remain wondering.

Question 66

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ ﴿٦٦﴾

Answer 66

(And saying): 'We are ladden with debt'.

Question 67

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿٦٧﴾

Answer 67

Rather we are totally deprived

Question 68

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ ﴿٦٨﴾

Answer 68

Again, tell Me about the water you drink.

Question 69

أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنزِلُونَ ﴿٦٩﴾

Answer 69

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or are We The One who send it down?

Question 70

لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٧٠﴾

Answer 70

If We so will We can make it bitter in taste. So why do you not offer gratitude?

Question 71

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ ﴿٧١﴾

Answer 71

Now tell Me about the fire you kindle.

Question 72

أَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنشِئُونَ ﴿٧٢﴾

Answer 72

Is it you who have originated its tree or are We the Originator?

Question 73

﴾نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ ﴿٧٣﴾

Answer 73

We have made it a reminder (Of Our Infinite power) and of the fire of Hell and a benefit for travellers in deserts.

Question 74

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿٧٤﴾ ۞

Answer 74

So proclaim purity of The Name of your Lord, The Magnificent.

Question 75

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ ﴿٧٥﴾

Answer 75

So I swear by the setting places of the stars

Question 76

وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ﴿٧٦﴾

Answer 76

And indeed it is a great oath if you are to appreciate

Question 77

إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿٧٧﴾

Answer 77

It is surely the Noble Qur'an

Question 78

فِي كِتَابٍ مَّكْنُونٍ ﴿٧٨﴾

Answer 78

(Recorded already) in a protected book (The Preserved Tablet).

Question 79

لَّا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ ﴿٧٩﴾

Answer 79

That is not touched except by the purified ones (The Angels)

Question 80

تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿٨٠﴾

Answer 80

A revelation from the Lord of The Worlds.

Question 81

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ ﴿٨١﴾

Answer 81

Is it this discourse that you take lightly?

Question 82

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٨٢﴾

Answer 82

And take your denial as your livelihood

Question 83

فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ ﴿٨٣﴾

Answer 83

So why do you not (intervene) when the soul (of a dying person) reaches the throat?

Question 84

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٨٥﴾

Answer 84

And We are closer to him than you but you do not perceive.

Question 85

فَلَوْلَا إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ﴿٨٦﴾

Answer 85

So if you are not going to be recompensed (In the Hereafter for your deeds)

Question 86

تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ﴿٨٧﴾

Answer 86

Then why do you not bring the soul back if you are truthful

Question 87

فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ﴿٨٨﴾

Answer 87

So in case he (The dying person) is from amongst those blessed with nearness.

Question 88

فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ﴿٨٩﴾

Answer 88

Then for him there is comfort and fragrance and Garden of Bliss

Question 89

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿٩٠﴾

Answer 89

And in case he is from amongst the people of the right.

Question 90

فَسَلَامٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿٩١﴾

Answer 90

Then it will be said to him: 'Peace is for you, as you are one of the people of the right'.

Question 91

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ ﴿٩٢﴾

Answer 91

But if he is one of the deniers, The astray

Question 92

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ﴿٩٣﴾

Answer 92

Then for him there is entertainment from boiling water.

Question 93

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ﴿٩٤﴾

Answer 93

And burning in the Hell

Question 94

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ ﴿٩٥﴾

Answer 94

Indeed this is certainly in its true sense

Question 95

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿٩٦﴾

Answer 95

So proclaim purity of The Name of your Lord, The Magnificent.

Question 96

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ ‎﴿٨٤﴾‏

Answer 96

And you are watching
