what hormones do the pituitary secrete?
follicle stimulating hormone(FSH), luteinising hormone(LH), and antidiuretic hormone(ADH).
what hormone does the thyroid secrete?
thyroxine.
what does FSH do?
it stimulates egg development and oestrogen in females, and sperm development in males.
what does LH do?
it stimulates egg release in females, and testosterone in males.
what does ADH do?
it controls the blood’s water content
what does thyroxine do?
it controls how fast chemical reactions happen in cells (the body’s metabolic rate).
what does the pancreas secrete?
insulin and glucagon.
what does insulin do?
it lowers blood glucose
what does glucagon do?
it raises blood glucose
what do the adrenals secrete?
adrenaline
what does adrenaline do?
it prepares the body for physical activity.
what do the testes secrete?
testosterone
what does testosterone do?
it controls the development of male secondary sexual characteristics.
what do the ovaries secrete?
oestrogen and progetserone
what does oestrogen do?
it controls the development of female secondary sexual characteristics.
